Hello, my name is Sue Darby, and I am an amateur Street Photographer who is not always good with words, but here goes. I live in New York (88 miles out of NYC). I was lucky enough to work in Manhattan for 18 years, and for most of those years, I travelled 20 to 22 weeks a year. Wherever I went, so did my camera and any free time I had; I was out shooting, no matter where I was.

I spent a lot of time in every botanical garden I could find in every state possible, not only shooting nature but also the street. I loved observing people.

When I was home (Brooklyn for 10 of those years) I spent a lot of time on Coney Island boardwalk shooting all that moved me. I practised my skills as a street and documentary photographer in the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn, at airports I was always travelling through, and on the subway. Any place that offered an opportunity. I learned so much shooting in Manhattan & Coney Island, and I met a lot of amazing people and photographers.

About 4 years ago, I started playing with ICM in nature. It actually started by accident; I researched motion blur to see what patterns and textures I could create. I saw I could take the ordinary and make it something more, making it move. I was hooked and wanted to be more creative, so I leaned more and honed in on what I thought created the best photos. There’s not always a science with ICM. lol

The more I played in nature, the more I wondered what Intentional Camera Movement would do in the streets. I knew I could already freeze motion and blur backgrounds, but ICM allowed for so much more; it could change a whole scene by shifting the mood and emotion of an image. I dove right in and what a wonderful adventure it has been so far!
