JUSTICE FOR THE 57 by George Koulouridis

On 28/02/2025 many thousands of people in Greece protesting to demand justice for the 57 people who were murdered two years ago in the railway accident in Tempe. Tempe was a state crime was the result of state underfunding, of the division of the railway project into many parts and of the privatization of the former TRAINOSE. This is a criminal policy - as it turns out - that has the stamp of all the governments of ND, SYRIZA and PASOK to date. Within the framework of this policy, workers were fired, flexible labor relations and intensification were imposed on those who remained, while the Italian company was subsidized with a large sum of money.

From the very beginning, the communication management of the event had a clear goal: not to assign responsibilities, but to blur the picture. The government, the institutions—everyone operated in coordination, as if there was an invisible order to keep the truth buried. The first statements were full of vague “excuses,” trying to shift the responsibilities to low-ranking officials. But who benefits from this cover-up? Here lies the crucial question.

Governments change, but the system that protects the interests of the powerful remains intact. Companies, contractors, political fireplaces, economic factors—they are all part of a chain that cannot be easily broken. "Because if the truth were to come out, then real responsibilities would have to be assigned. And that is something the 'deep state' cannot allow."
