Back Challenge

1-© Patrick Merino.jpg

Patrick Merino

the winner

The image has impact! You are drawn into the blast of wind by the glare of the passing train centrally between the backs. The blur of the train and blowing hair adds movement and dynamics. Terrific mono, mood, and story! Robert Bannister

"Black hair flows in the wind of the subway, silhouetted against the blurred motion of the train, creating a dynamic and energetic photograph—with an unsettling air lurking beneath. The image wonderfully captures the intensity and motion of the metro, but upon extended viewing a darker atmosphere sets in. The scene takes on a monstrous quality as they reach out for each other with their hair as though in yearning. This gives the photo an otherworldly quality that defines the street genre. The photo is not only a skillfully captured decisive moment, but that moment is also inscrutable in its reality."Lukasz Palka

Zac Challenge

1© Rainer Neumann Winner.jpg

Rainer Neumann

the winner

guys a challenge means walking out of territories there are congenial.
sharpen your sight!
change the lenses on your cameras!

It won an image that does not want to surprise but that focuses on a daily detail, a string that is loose.

A simple black and white, hands no longer young, a city background.

The detail has made the shoe more real and the action more interesting!

Well done Rainer Neumann!

Close up Challenge

1- Orna Naor.jpg

Orna Naor

the winner

The unanimous winner receiving the most votes from our votes was an image simply titled Tel Aviv 2017 by Orna Naor.

Indeed the Beautifully processed black and white image did not need an evocative title to get the taste buds stirring.

The image was enough to draw you into a whirlwind story.

We encounter the passive, the faceless and the emotional as we exit this stunningly composed image.

A story in an image!

Well done!

(Robert Bannister)

Numbers Challenge

1 - Joël Sueur .jpg

Joël Sueur

the winner

“97” takes us back into the past, to the 1950s in Vietnam. The image is like a frame from a film, or a vignette in the life of a child and her family. Presents the viewer with a world of many facets and interpretations. The smoke and the decay of the building add layers of authenticity to the scene. What is the man looking at out of his window? The question sparks a narrative that begins in house 97.

Joël Sueur’s other submissions share a similar inscrutable quality—narratives caught in fleeting moments. Children returning from school to an old house, a woman in window adorned by a skull, each moment a glimpse as surreal as the last.
