Eric Strijbos : Street, architecture and space

Dutch book translator, travel writer and photographer who likes to explore the streets, public spaces and any built environment wherever he goes, but mostly in his native Amsterdam.

Three Styles - One Exhibition

From May 14 to May 19, works by Eric Strijbos, Frans van Bragt and Gerda van Ekris will be on show in Galerie Niek Waterbolk, Schoutenstraat 10, Utrecht, Netherlands. The exhibition’s focus will be the built environment. Eric Strijbos’ work straddles street photography and architecture. His works in the exhibition explore the interaction between museums, their architecture and their visitors, inspired by his work as travel writer and photographer. Frans van Bragt is a web developer and architecture photographer. His series “Utrecht on the Beach” is strange and yet oddly familiar, particularly if you’re from Utrecht as well. Some of his work on Utrecht’s spectacular TivoliVredenburg venue was acquired by the concert hall itself. Gerda van Ekris developed as an architecture photographer working for an architecture agency and travels a lot as well, organising trips for her students and other photographers. She keeps finding views of industrial architecture in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, often with a human touch.

The man from Yorkshire does not suffer fools. In fact, he does not seem to suffer at all, and has a love of life that is undisguised.
This is served up with some extraordinary B/W work from his trusty Fuji X-series cameras.

I glanced at my packed camera bag and decided to give it one more check. The bag really is more of a waterproof ‘man bag’ manufactured by Musto, for the more discerning Nautical Photographer. There are pockets for absolutely everything, including laptop and two cameras: Fuji X-100s (set to silent mode). As well as this, a X-T20 with Samyang 12mm prime lens fitted, polarisers for both and plenty of spare batteries. Finally, some spare SD cards, a Manfrotto monopod and mini tripod.

Roberto Di Patrizi: Sensitivity

He started to pursue photography more seriously only in October 2010, when his wife gave him a camera for his birthday.

Sensitivity is a sharp weapon that, when I have not turned it against myself, has helped me to grasp the nuances of every- day life, made of small details, which can transform the ordinary into extraordinary. A look, a smile, a gesture. It is true, we are islands. And every time I sail in this archipelago of souls, I am fascinated by the variety of microclimates. How many main characters in thousands of stories for millions of movies I’ll never see. Galactic travelers on interstellar trains to endless destinations, and beyond. I would like to hug some of them, tell them that it’s all right ... or hear me say it. But it is not possible. So I take a picture of them to take away with me, forever.

Neta Dekel : Life in Jerusalem

Photography has been his passion since he started studying it in the early 1980s when he was 20 years old. In the early years, he has studied in “Camera Obscura” – a well-known photography and art school in Tel Aviv.

I am a street photographer, and the Old City of Jerusalem intrigues me constantly. Going in the small alleys of the historical city, feeling the heart pulse is a unique feeling.
